Paving the (red) road: How it all began

Redearth Education was founded by Lynne Pritchard, Di Cosgrove and Ronnie Katzler in 2006 after many trips to Uganda together to learn about the overwhelming challenges faced by teachers and children in the education system.

In 2012, Lynne, who was a Head teacher and Ronnie, who was an Advisory teacher to the Deaf, took early retirement and moved to Masindi, Uganda permanently and have dedicated their retirement to giving children their one chance at a quality education. Di retired from Head teaching and visits Uganda for months at a time each year, recently using her vast experience in nursery and early years to set up the Redearth Nursery Centre.

Together they have many decades of teaching experience, business management, accountancy and global education knowledge and have voluntarily given their expertise to grow Redearth into the successful organisation it is today.

The dedication of Lynne, Ronnie and Di has resulted in an invaluable and mammoth impact on the children, teachers and schools, mostly in the large district of Western Uganda called Masindi, however they have expanded in 2015 to work all over Uganda.

Redearth Education team is made up of the founders, long term UK Teacher volunteers – at least 3 who live there for one year at a time, short term UK Teachers/Head Teachers/Professors etc who travel out to Uganda several times per year, a local Redearth team with a Project Manager and field officers, lead Ugandan teachers and the Ugandan Ministry/District Education Authorities.
